I was wondering if an organization can prevent a player from playing in a lower level? My son who plays hockey for probably the worst organization was told that if he doesn't play defense for the peewee CC team, then he doesn't play at all. You see like many other organizations, this one has its favourites along with their usual politics. I am at fault for many of the things happening to him this seson, this is also the reason for not making bb. It had nothing to do with his skating or his speed as they would make me believe, but simply they don't like me. I am comfortable with that, and I can honestly say that I have learned my lesson. My mouth has cost my son to play to BB this year. But cutting a kid when even the kid knows and can see that he is probably the fastest kid on the team with and without the puck, forward as well as backward is just ludacris. The issue that lies presently is that my son is beginning to hate hockey. He is very athletic and excels in many other sports other than hockey. This too, being their reason for cutting him after being part of their organization playing atom bb for 2 years. I am not looking for sympathy from the public opinion, being this is a forum where people can post informations , suggestions, experiences, etc.., I just felt that people out there should know what is going on w/in some of these organizations. My son who prides himself in playing defense wants to play as a forward in CC and I can't see whay he can't. The organization has only offered frivolous excuses time and time again. I sent an email to hockey quebec to see what their take is on this, and well, I am still waiting ( it has only been 1 day so far!) My son does not want to play defense anymore b/c he doesn't feel like he is good enough after being unfairly cut from BB. He opinioned many times that he would like to play forward. Does he have that right? Can an organization threaten or force him to play a position or he does not play hockey at all. They said they won't release him. As of right now, my disgust I have for this organization or should say some members specifically, I feel to take my son to Ontario b/c they appreciate kids more than quebec. I welcome all responses, opinions, suggestions.

Playing down/ jouer un niveau inférieur

Leave lasalle alone, go pick on the hurricanes and why players leave that organization. lol!!!!

Congratulations to the Boas for winnig that exciting game. It will definately be hard for them to lose. They know how to win. I only wish our team was taught that or at least had it instilled in us throughout the season. The Boas are a true example of a team made up of no superstars who cannot be outworked. Given a chance, kids can learn anything you want them too. I was just happy to see certain faces in the crowd yesterday, they looked like they were actually learning themselves. Lakeshore, damn you guys had two teams this year, I cannot imagine what your team will look like next year. I am happy I don't have to play against you guys next year. Keep your head, you guys played a very strong game as well.

Quiveringquail, LOL. Check out your own teammates b4 assuming!

The lasalle team has many of my friends on it but I'm tired about hearing about them. Are people afraid of them? Personally, I couldn't care who wins our sorry Hurricane team should have been at least competing for the Montreal Cup -that's what happens when you lose your best player and play the manager's child the whole game - We were doomed from; let's say back in October- It is what it is-I learned a lot from playing in Hurricane land this year - I learned that as a parent I have to keep my shut when the kids are playing. ( It's just my competitive nature) Also, I learned that we were weak and if we wanted to see a real team play that we would have to watch lakeshore.( this coming from gods!) but which one? I also learned that if you are having a very strong game, you will sit. dependng who you are of course. I started believing that it may be a racial thing. But you know us brothjers, we blame everything on color anyway, so that is not saying much! Lasalle bring it home baby, after party at Parc leroux!!!
-
Boy, do I love the play offs. Lakeshore Panthers lost again, candiac elite lost, richelieu Phoenix lost, Suroit turbo lost, again regular season means squat. Blainville came through and walked over their competition. Lasalle begins their journey tomorrow night. Verdun, what can I say is it luck or again is it simply PLAY OFF HOCKEY! In speaking about teams to watch out for across all the leagues, varennes is looking very good right now, St. Hubert as well, Fed l'est as well but they do not have any competition so that's expected! Good luck to the rest of the teams that are still in it. Lasalle you better finish what you started, Go Lions! LOL
-
Good point! Mais, lasalle probably works harder than any other team out there. It will be very competitive when they meet each other. But imagine how funny it would be if neither team got there and a team like the Hrs hawks or Montreal hurricanes got there. Wouldn't that be a final?
-
Should Hockey Quebec or the the specific league itself begin to examine the quality of some teams out there. It is ridiculous that there are some teams that absolutely have no chance of even being somewhat competitive, and they are playing BB. I speak of the atom division. A team like Ahuntsic Braves is a very good Atom A team. Why are they playing BB. Should they not be merged with another organization to at least be competitive. The zoning issues are ridculous and it's time that real changes come about. Out of curiosity, who is favored to win the Dodge Cup in Atom BB, Atom CC,
-
I say lasalle is the best team only b/c they haven't lost this season. Until they lose, they are the best team. It's just a matter of time between the two super teams Lasalle and blainville play. Trust me, I'll be doing a lot of watching cause our team will not be going anyway. lol
-
Good coaching makes all the difference. I would take excellent coaching over a super talented team with a not so good coach any day. Good luck to Blainville b/c you never played the Cobras yet.. LOL

The beauty of forums is that expression and opinions can be made respectably, truthfully, and most importantly it gives people a place where they can learn and share their thoughts and experiences to the masses. In regards to earlier posts that I have made concerning coaches and development, and how kids should be played or not played were all my personal opinions, and not an attack on any coach or organization. I understand that coaches have different philosophies in terms of how the game should be played, and how to motivate their kids to work hard. I may not agree with all of the coaching decisions, or development strategies from my organization, but it doesn't mean that I don't respect what they are trying to achieve which is to improve our kids into better hockey players. With that being said, I also want to state that sending subliminal messages about a kid's future in the organization, or basically having negative things to say about the parent solely b/c a difference of opinion exists, is purely cheap, and shows the true color of the organization. If you hold an important post w/in the organization, maybe you should get to know the parent first before assuming or listening to jealous leeches in the organization who are more trouble than the parent who's in the spotlight. To garner such criticism, and hate all b/c of the way one feels about how his team can improve and be expected to work a little harder is baffling and confusing. As coaches and parents we want the best, and I am no different. So threatening the chances to maybe play PEE WEE AA is a joke. My son will never see The NHL or any other high level of significance, so if he is being blackballed or anything else for the matter, good! Single letters will just be great b/c it seems as if he's already playing for a single letter organization anyway, so there would be no difference. People often speak about certain organizations are very good, and very bad. I am sure we all can name organizations on both fronts, but from last year to this year, many things changed. Our team was called " very Weak" and I agree with the statement 100%. I also I agree that our team is part of an organization's over all philosophy, so whose to blame? Parents don't coach, coaches do, or maybe technical directors do, maybe the convenors do, or maybe some managers do. I noticed if you are not careful these days and your team has a lousy manager, the ship sinks, again!!! So that's it. Whoever knows what's going on, I leave it up to you to form your own opinion. If you do not know, then be careful where you register your kid. Always make sure how much money is being allocated to coaching staff, etc.. Again I repeat, it's a crime to speak out with an opinion in certain organizations b/c they will hate you. I am going on vacation, I'll be back with Part 2, which will probably be my fate. Good luck to the team, a bunch of great kids, and let's put some wins together before the play-offs! -

alrighty then so who would you say is the best defensemen or I'll make it easier for you, give me a top 10 atom bb defensemen list from what you have seen this year. If ***********B_D can battle with menard all game long, he may just be able to do the same against ***********B_D or any other superstar in the league except for maybe the kid from Iberville, wow what a pleasure to watch. -

It seems when it comes to the topic of lasalle there always seems to be a bit of hatred. As it stands right now, they are the only undefeated team Atom BB team, so until they lose, they are number 1 regardless of how classementpoc or anyone else views them. You think Fed l'est should beat Lasalle b/c of 1 player. Come on man, we all know he can't do it alone. I mean he can, against a lower tier team, but lasalle has more weapons than people give them credit for. It will be interesting to see ********B_D go against **********B_D, probably the best defensemen in all of ATOM. If I was a betting man, how does the saying go, always bet on Black! If these 2 teams meet in the final, it will be very interesting to see. Lasalle's defensemen is next to none and it's irrelevant what the blizzards think b/c they struggled mightily with the lowly hurricanes and then got dismantled by college Francois. Blainville, ( congratulations on a great final. but here's a little reminder, you lost. As it stands right now, at least 1 team knows how to beat you. -

Are just not hungry. There's no competition on our team. Our kids are not aggressive, and there is no leadership. In terms of playing, if our 2nd year kids were able to pay their dues and sit if they were not working as hard, or not doing what was asked of them, or simply just not the right time for them to finish off the game, why can't it be done the same way with our present coaching staff who run good practices, very good practices but they lack coaching instinct. We all can't win every game, but as a coach and I speak for myself and I am sure many of you can relate, we try to win b/c winning does instill happiness, confidence, self esteem. So all that talk about kids feeling hurt b/c they can't finish the game off, stop babying them. When you speak of 1st line kid, and 2nd or 3rd, the reality is true many of our kids will not be on the first line nor the second, but we strive for the best. It's no different from a young age an older age. Last year as a first year, my son was very dominant, this year, he's having a terrible season due to many reasons including his own ignorance, and most of all the coaching. The fun aspect is not there, it's boring, not being pushed the way he was last year, and b/c of his competitive nature, losing doesn't help. If we were to lose but look good in losing, there would be no problem, but that is not the case. The kids have not been taught to utilize their strengths. They have not been pushed and worked hard enough to understand what it takes to win games. To see a coach not trying to coach to win at the end of the game that can be won or tied, I'm sorry but I couldn't coach like that and never will. I will always try to put my team in a position to win , whether it';s in school, playing sports, whatever they do. I respect everyone's opinion, and to be honest, whoever started this topic, this was a good topic. In case you are wondering what team I am from, Atom BB Montreal Hurricanes but Lasalle at heart!!! -

In response to daryl, whom I respect his view on this matter, I would just like to inform you that I do coach, not hockey but other sports where I have a team of 8-9 year olds and a team of young teenage girls. Let me first begin with my 8-9 year olds; for many of them it was their first time playing and didn't have the coordination, technique, or the understanding of the game. That's where as a coach I come in. My goal was to have these kids understand as much as they can, have lots of fun, and most importantly to develop their physical as well as mental state. I also have to mention the fact that I had many special needs children on the team that were either medicated, or needed extra attention. Within the scope of my goals, I made a lot of mistakes as a coach, and obviouslty that is part of the game b/c we as coaches always learn tand that's what makes us good at what we do. I also, take pride in saying that if you were to look at my team at the beginning of the season and compare it to the end of the season, there was a dramatic transformation. The reason being, discipline. The kids have to understand the coaches are the law. Their work ethic was so beautiful to watch, i couldn't believe my eyes. We worked them as hard as any other level playing team in the organization, while making it fun. You see, you can work the kids really hard in a fun environment and they don't even realize it. My team were like a bunch of pitballs never quitting on a play. They kept going, and going, why, b/c I wanted them to be aggressive, fast, hit hard, and to be able to think when tired. In terms of coaching, I had a few 2nd years players who had already been throufgh my madness. They also sat at times during their first year b/c they needed time to adjust to the speed of the game, the size of many players, and simply b/c they were just mentally younger than the other players. Did it make them weaker or love the game any less, not at all. It made them HUNGRY TO PLAY! Our hockey team that I spoke of earlier and the reason for this debate, are just not hnugry -
Quand est-ce qu'un coach peut coacher ?

There has been much talk over coaches cutting the benches. Well, I wish our coaches would try to cut the bench in the dying minutes of a game that is winnable or at least that can be tied. This notion that rolling the lines at all costs is a philosophy that is felt by many and I respect it but I don't agree with it as I am a coach in many different sports. The notion of having second year players on the team should mean something and on our team it doesn't. The second year players paid their dues and should be rewarded for that but on our team, no such leadership is given. Yes, we have a captain and 1 assistant as the 3rd second year player was not worthy for a letter b/c of the usual politics, race, being an outspoken kid, and you know the usual B.S. but that is not my reason for commenting on here. Our kids just don't know how to win. As a coach myself, I feel that you have to provide a level of competition amongst your players in order to go out and compete against other teams. Skill development is a fundemental, as well as teaching the kids that you have to work hard if you ever want to play the last crucial moments of a game. Our team, and it's sad to say but losing games is a norm and I as a parent who loves to watch sports, especially watch kids who give their all, it's very frustrating to see the coaches have not at this point of the season instilled a winning attitude amongst our kids. Our kids have not improved at all this season. I have a saying that a team is a reflection of their coach. Yesterday, we played one of the best ATOM BB teams outthere, and the kids fought with all the energy they had but came up short. We lost b/c of the coaches. We have 1 of the best 2000's in Quebec in our team, along with 1 of the fastest 2000 player, both second year players, both on the bench, until the last minute or so. People believe that in cutting a bench you are a ruining a child's self esteem and confidence. How about those second year players ( our leaders) who were there last year and can't be on the ice at the end of the game b/c of this belief. I think it's crazy, and let's be honest about 1 thing. Winning isn't everything, but it's alot. Kids feel good about themselves when they win. These coaches sacrifice a chance to get an extra hour of hockey for maybe 2 line changes at the most at the end of game. ( St. MIchel tournament) I have friends who come and watch the our game and they all laugh at me and say our coaches get out coached. -

Congrats to the temas from quebec doing very well but let's call a spade a spade. The big teams of last year were not present at this year's tournament such as Wave hockey, pro hockey development, and spoderman were definately not the same team as all these teams were probably getting ready for the brick. Anyway, congrats. -

Congratulations to the Global Hockey team for competing hard and having a wonderful season. It didn't finsh the way we would have liked it but it was a good experience for our kids to see what we need to do to improve on our record for next year. And to the parents, it has been great, fun, and we'll see what happens next year. To the coaching staff that were very, very good, and who put an undestanding of the game before the wins can only have a positive impact later on in these young mens hockey careers. Good job! We'll see each other during the season. Congrats to the Ice rebels for defeating the Vipers, and as well to Oakville for beating a very strong Cantonnier team. -

Damn! I will be the first to say that when playing Goh, they didn't do anything spectacular against us, but they won. Against the wolverines, I thought that it would be a match up that the wolverines would win fairly easy, and I was wrong again. This team is a very good team, plays like a team, and they are very well coached. No one saw this one sided victory coming. They now have to be really taken seriously from here on in. After tomorrow, we will have a better look at where the teams stand. As for Global, they had an easy time with Jr.Lions, but their real tests comes tomorrow against both Durham Ice breakers and cantonniers. -

cantonniers vs goh sounds good, cantonniers vs wolverines sounds good as well, but Global vs whoever sounds even better. You guys should stop downplaying our team as we are having a very good season this only being a second year team.
