In my opinion, if I was the THAAAQ I would not allow a player that plays in the LEAAAQ to play in the THAAAQ. That would basically force the parents to chose and eliminate this back and forth business.
-
I don't want to speak for Mike, but I'm sure with all the hard work he put into recruiting and putting together a very competitive team, the last thing he wants to do is go play against no competition. I'm almost certain that Mike will do what's best for his team and stay in the THAAAQ to compete against the Stallions and other competitive teams. Mike is definitely in AAA hockey for the right reasons and not in it to pad his back pocket with lots of $$$.

Coach77... don't assume that helmets, gloves, etc is to make money. I don't want to comment on other teams or how they do things, but I will comment on how the Stallions do things. For one, the helmets & gloves are there to create a team spirit and a feeling of being part of something special. Much of the expensive stuff (helmets) was paid for by our proud sponsors for which we worked extremely hard to go get. Second, our teams do not charge a fee to be part of the Stallions organization like some organizations do. We want our parents to spend money on training their kids with the best trainer(s) in the world so that the kids develop. Is it expensive... yes, but our kids develop!

Good luck and I hope you fill your pockets with lots of $$$$! -
So you're saying the problem with AAA hockey in Quebec is that there are a few super strong teams in each category that other teams cannot compete with? I personally think creating D1, D2, & D3 is a step in the right direction. Year after year the gap will close between the super Elite teams. I'm not sure that the problem lies with the super Elite teams. I think the problem lies with everyone wanting to win a tourney, but they want it given to them instead of earning it the old fashion way. What ever happenned to having to work very hard to get something you really really want?
-
Can you say $$$$ and I'm guessing they gave you a tourney to run too. This is the problem with AAA hockey in Quebec. Everyone is looking out for the best interests of their back pockets instead of what's best for the development of the kids. Pathetic if you ask me and your true colors just showed up in my opinion.

Un gros merci à tous les parents pour le camp du weekend dernier. Ce fut un grand succès incroyable pour nos jeunes 2006 et le talent sur la glace était simplement WOW! I would simply like to thank all the parents for attending this weekends training camp. It was a great success for our young 2006's and the talent level was incredible!

Supper2004 you must be a very bitter person and sore loser to hate the Stallions that much. I never saw Lucic or any other make any excuses about our loss in Toronto. Lucic was simply saying that the team that beat us in an amazing final could not be a Brick team because they had players from Pittsburg, BC, and Ottawa where as our team was all players from Quebec. In fact the team that we brought over to the King of the Rings was basically our next year D1 team minus one very talented player. Despite the loss, I got to say that the competition last weekend was tremendous and that we were extremely pleased to eliminate the heavy favorites in Total Hockey Red. I congratulate the CH Jr for their Championship and I really look forward to next years D1. I think there is lots of mutual respect between both teams and there is no need to bad mouth either team. I see that the eventual Brick team will be a combination of players from these two teams so they will need to start getting along.

Are there any 2004's that have been given a chance to play Atome CC or BB in your area?
-
Loupi, your system seems to be very decent in the fact that you basically always have the best playing with the best despite their age so they are always being challenged. What I don't agree with however is that you guys play with a 2 min ''Buzzer'' which I find unfortunate. One of the things I feel the kids in their 2nd year of Novice (or Novice A) should learn is to go all out for 45 seconds to a minute and then change. My experience from Novice A last year was that some kids would stay on the ice sometimes for 3 mins!!! Further, we were 3 full lines so sometimes there would be 1 line that only got 1 shift in a period which to me is rediculous. I understand that this might happen at the beginning of the year due to there being a learning curve, but on our team this was happening near the end of the year which is simply unexcusable in my eyes.
-
Top Ice, the 2004's I agree are pretty deep in talent however it looks like they are all centered around mainly 2 teams. On the flip side, there is really only 1 dominant game changing player out there in the 2004's and I would think that the rest of the 2004's will catch up this coming year and we will then have very tight games. I do think that there should be a maximum of 8 teams in Division 1 teams next year, namely; Gouvs, Jr CH Bleu, Patriote de Beauce, Ice Storm, Stallions Gold, Stallions Black, and 2 more from the Quebec City region. If there are any more than that you will be seeing scores of 6-0 which doesn't make sense for a Division 1. I'm still hearing that the Lightning are trying to make a D1 team and that there is a possibility of 3 teams from the Quebec City region also making D1 teams. Hopefully the THAAAQ will step in and put their foot in and stop some of this non-sense. The right thing to do is simply have the THAAAQ name the Division 1 teams early and this will even out the playing field for everyone and allows parents to make choices on where they want their kids to play.
-
I would agree with you that 5 teams to me would be ideal however not everyone thinks like you. From what I've heard is that both the Gouvs and Ice Storm believe in only running 2 lines up front (basically going with 10 players plus a goalie). Further, I believe the Jr CH Bleu have recruited the Jr Nordiques goalie and one of their best players which means the QC region will be weaker imo. There will be 2 dominant D1 teams and then everyone else. Therefore the real competition will once again be in Toronto! The scores in games here in the THAAAQ will be closer, but there will still be 4-1 scores which in D1 terms is not close enough to me. Just my opinion, I hope I'm wrong and that other teams will be able to bring up the bar!

HHHMMMM....Poutine is truly a gift from the heavens!!!! Yes indeed there is no shortage of good poutine out there!!! Having lived through novice hockey and being a parent of a child who is lucky to have a slightly elevated hockey skill set, I can tell you that there are pros and cons to having your child play novice A. I will assume that your son and my son are of equal skill level....here is what you can expect. Your son will be among the strongest in his league. He will score a great number of goals and he will play with all the confidence in the world. Confidence is extremely important and is just as important as raw talent. This will serve him well throughout the year and hopefully he will remain confident into the AAA season. With the good comes the bad. Yes your son will pick up bad habits. He will learn to play individually for sure. Your son s novice team will have players who are just not at the same caliber. Thats inevitable.... Hear me now believe me later. If your son is like mine, he will want to win. How many passes do you think he will make that end up in a turn over to the other team, simply because the other players cannot receive the pass. Your son is not stupid, he will realize quickly..that in order to win, he cannot allow turnovers that result in break aways on your poor goalie. He will learn that as long as he keeps the puck away from the other team, the less chance they will have to score. All that being said....do not worry about the bad habits. He will learn to pass when he plays with kids who can keep up. My son s transition to AAA was slightly longer than I had hoped, but he turned out just fine. One last word of advice. You tell your boy to play hard every shift, DO NOT HOLD HIM BACK!!!! Do not tell him to look for passes or slow down so his team can catch up to him. It is not up to your boy to slow his game. Its up to the rest of the team to up their game to the level of your son! I cannot stress that enough!!!! You let him play his game...its that simple! There will be some jealous parents out there and you will hear things....just ignore all the crap and enjoy watching your son on the ice. Good luck with the seaon and Bonne Poutine!!! Thanks JCAC for the words of advice. I personally love the way your son plays.... he's one heck of a player. It'll be easy for me to ignore the crap from the stands but I hope my son can ignore it as well. I'm hoping I'll be behind the bench as an assistant to push him every shift despite the score on the board. To me that will be the most difficult thing to do as everyone tends to take the foot off the pedal when you have a big lead (from the coaches to the players as well).

Nope...It will not happen in the west of the island of MTL, this I can assure you. Pierrefonds did allow a 2004 to play novice A last season. As for 2004 to atom BB or CC it will not happen in my area. My advice to you would be to contact the technical director of your organization and ask for your child to be evaluated. I hear that organization such as Laval, St-Laurent or out east of the island are more willing to surclass players. My son is from Laval and from what I've been told is don't expect to get surclassed which is fine by me. My son will hopefully learn to dominate Novice A and build his confidence.... but hopefully he won't get into bad habits like playing too individual. In my area of Laval we will be lucky to have other good players for him to play with so I don't think playing Novice A will be a total disaster! If it is a disaster, then luckily there will be plenty of poutines at the arena to soak my sorrows in.... right JCAC

Les Jr Lions, Kings AAA, DR Nordiques Jr ne font plus parti de la THAAAQ alors vous pouviez en avoir plus que 2 joueurs de ces équipes.
-
Actually, if you change the name of the team you will only be allowed to have 2 players from the Canadiens Jr Bleu & 2 from the Red based on the rules set by the THAAAQ. I don't think you'll be allowed to do that : ) Bonne chance Franky and we are looking forward to meeting up with you guys next year again!

Stallions/Titan won the Philadelphia One Hockey tournament this past weekend. Félicitation à toute nos jeunes Stallions/Titan. The competition was not very strong but the tournament organizer gave us a chance to play the Alberta 2003's on Sunday where we lost 7-1. The score was only 1-0 after the first 15 min period, but then Alberta took advantage of our mistakes. It was a good measuring stick for our kids. Merci Alberta!!!

The 2004 Brick team will go as Ice Storm as they own the rights to the tourney from Quebec. It's much the same in Toronto where the Bulldogs own the rights so as of next year, most of the Total Hockey Red team will go over to the Bulldogs.
-
Good luck to all the teams. Lots of talent in Kingston this year, dare I say even more talent then last year! Last year was a great experience winning the tourney, but to repeat will be extremely difficult. The highlight for me personally was the semi-final game the East Selects vs Gouverneurs in OT like Mike said. It'll be interesting to see what this year will bring. Once again, good luck to all the teams!

The Stallions have been recruiting all year looking at the top 2004's. We will be having open tryouts starting in August. Our goal is to have the best players start playing together and training together so that we can start matching other Brick programs that have traditionally shown good results at the Brick. If anyone is interested in participating in these tryouts, please email me at bvidicek@yahoo.com Please note that this will not be the official Brick Team that will participate at the Brick Tournament, but the goal will be for the best players to start practicing & playing together starting next year and playing the best competition in Ontario. Players that do not make this team will still be encouraged to participate in our individual training programs so that they can also develop.
