Ice Rebels champions du CCM SuperChallenge D1
stallions2004 a répondu à un sujet de petitvite dans 2006
Yankee46, I agree with you that Petivite is being Cocky but he has that right... for this year anyways. Like it or not, the Ice Rebels were able to recruit the 3-4 top players from last year and got their entire team to commit to their off season training program. He is correct that some of us (Stallions for one) had ice and simply were not as good. The reality is that everyone will need to re-evaluate their teams, recruit harder, and make the necessary changes to become more competitive. That being said, if there is a year to catch up it will be this year as 99% of these kids will not get surclassed into Atome BB so they will all play Novice A again this year. It will be interesting to see who can take advantage and come up with the right formula. -
I'd like to congratulate the Stallions 2004 Elite for showing how strong the 2004 crop in Quebec are and making it to the finals of the CCM Boisbriand 2003D1. Their performance this past weekend was mind blowing considering they were playing with 3 missing players & one injured defenseman all weekend. Going into this tourney the expectations were not very high and winning one game would have been a feat in itself. After a tie in their first game, they finished the round robin with 3 consecutive wins and finishing first overall. In the semi-finals they won in double OT before finally running out of gas & losing 6-1 in the finals vs the Cascades who had 3 kids from last years Brick team on it. Despite the 6-1 lost, the Stallions Elite showed once again how dominant their 2004's really are. Once again, congratulation boyz you turned a lot of heads this past weekend vs some very good competition beating the Prince, Maxpuissance, & Gaulois Jr twice.

Mike, now that your Vikings season is officially done, I wish your Ice Storm Brick team the best of luck in Edmonton and I hope your prediction of at least making it to the 1/4 finals comes true. I know we differ on many aspects of the Brick topic but I hope you guys succeed despite my opinions. Bonne chance to all our Stallions Elite players that will not only be representing our team, but more importantly our talent level here in the province of Quebec. Good luck to JR, JS, JS, & TL..... go gett'em boyz!!!

First off I don't want to fight with anyone here but the core of the Stallions Elite (7-8 players) have been playing together for 5 years now. Every year we have been adding 1 or 2 players just like every other organization of which 1 usually comes from our other 2004 Stallions team & next year will be no different. Further, we have even lost many great players that have gone on to play for other D1 teams. Argueably, the Vikings 3 top players & the Rebels 4 top players have all once played for the Stallions organization. To say that the Stallions do not develop players is honestly a crock of sh*t. The players that have followed our training sessions have improved & developed tremendously even if there are a bunch that play for other teams. Anyone that disagrees with that last sentence honestly has their head in the sand. I would also like to point out that the breakdown of players from this past weekends performance are as follows; Victoriaville = 1 Laval Nord = 3 Laval Est = 1 Pierrefonds = 2 Lakeshore = 2 Versant Ouest = 1 Fede de l'Est = 1 Chatauguay = 1 Players that did not play this past weekend; Pierrefonds = 1 Ottawa = 2

Once again congrats to the Ice Rebels 2006 D1. You guys are the class of the 2006's and are wasting your time playing in the 2006 D1's.... men playing against boys. Just goes to show how kids perform with training all year round.... in fact the other finalist (Jr Lions) have many of their kids following a program all year round as well. Felicitation encore une fois. -
First I'd like to give congratulations to the Cascades 2003D1 pour leur victoires 6-1 en finale contre les Stallions Elite 2004. I'd like to also congratulate the Stallions Elite 2004 who played the entire tourney with 6 forwards & 4.5 defenseman (one had a badly sprained ankle). This team totally exceeded anyones expectations including our own as we knew we didn't have our full team & winning 1 game would have been a feat in itself. I'm not sure if all the top 2003D1 team were present at this tourney but I'd love to know which other strong 2003D1 team were missing. Despite the results, we are very aware that many of the top 2003 players have been playing in the 2002D1 (namely our own Stalllions Elite 2003) and we will try to not let these results go to our kids or parents heads. Once again congrats & enjoy the summer vacations & Peewee tryouts!!!

Felicitation au Vikings pour leurs 3ieme victoire en trois occasions. For me I have a bit of a different top 5; 1- Stallions Elite (won Toronto Invitational & Laval Challenge in 2003D2 + finalist at the CCM Boisbriand 2003D1). 2- Vikings (won 3 tourneys in 2004D1) 3- Stars TBT 4- Rebels 5- Ice Storm Let's see if the Meltdown changes anything.

Daniel, you guys have done a great job with your team... both on the recruiting side & skill development side. The biggest challenge with our AAA teams here in Quebec is to develop the collective play as we don't play all year round together. With my 2004's we are extremely lucky to have dedicated parents towards our training and our kids are very bright in terms of hockey sense and that's why we somehow make it work playing against the very best in Toronto. Continue the great work!
-
Honestly I was surprised by the 7-2 score in your favor as well (no disrespect to your team at all) because I knew the Pro Hockey team was very strong & I guess it the finals they brought their game. One thing I will knock about Toronto teams given my experience is that they usually perform extremely better in local Toronto tournaments because they get a very soft & favourable schedule. The past several years they have under performed in my opinion in away tourneys given my experience with the 2004's. However, their Brick teams usually do extremely well in Edmonton but I think that will change a bit going forward as they will not be allowed to take any more imports starting next year.
-
Congrats to the final 6 at the Meltdown in the 2006 D1. After finally seeing all the top teams playing together in the best tourney of the spring in Quebec, I must say I was blown away by the talent level of both the Devils (Pro-Hockey Sisca) & the Ice Rebels. I had the priviledge of playing against the Pro-Hockey team at the Toronto Invitational in mid-April and I must say this is a very impressive team. It's really nice to watch kids play so collectively at such a young age and I congratulate the Devils on their Championship this past weekend. After this past weekend, here's my ranking of the top four 2006 D1 Teams in Quebec (my opinion); 1- Ice Rebels 2- Bulldogs Prospects 3- Sherifs Ice Dragons 4- Stallions/Titan Gold Honourable mentions to the Generals who tied the Bulldogs Jim team. Daniel, as for the Toronto scene, the Pro-Hockey group is currently a big step above the Bulldogs group!

Les Stallions aussi ne seront pas au tournois des Champions (D1 ou D2) peut importe si les D1 gagne un tournois ou pas.

Congratulations to the Stallions/Titan 2004 Elite for winning the Laval Challenge tournament this past weekend defeating a very good Select Etoiles du Nord Abiti 2-1 (in OT) in the finals. Once again the Stallions/Titan Elite prove that they are the cream of the crop of the 2004's winning a tournament playing a year up (2003D2). Without taking away anything from our oppositions, posession was dominated by the Stallions in most of our games we played. Hats off to the players, coaching staff, & parents for their continued commitment to our Stallions Elite excellence program. Absolutely congrats to our Stallions/Titan D1 Gold team who also faired extremely well playing vs the 2003 D2's. Although they didn't make it to Sunday, they could have easily been there if they had a few breaks. In fact, they were right there up to the last 5 minutes in their last game Saturday to determine if they advanced or not to Sunday. We are extremely proud of their competitiveness throughout the weekend and their development is on the right track. Keep up the hard work!!! -
Congratulations to the Stallions/Titan Black 2006 D2 for winning the Laval Challenge tournament this past weekend defeating a very good Jr CH Bleu team 2-0 in the finals. This team has come a long way since last year and it just shows that the Stallions development program continues to develop great talent. As the manager of the Ice Storm Brick Team, I hope your intention is to go there to be competitive and try to win as I know there any many parents on that team that would not be going if they knew 100% that they would lose and not even make it to the Sunday. You're making it sound that the Ice Storm team is a big joke and that you're just going there to play a little hockey & visit the West of Canada. I hope for the parents sake that your team is going there to be competitive.
-
Mike, you're lucky that you have the means to take an additional 2 weeks off work to do that. I'm sure there are many parents that are envious of you.
-
From what I've heard from other parents that have gone to the Brick with the Ice Storm is that the experience is not that incredible. In fact some have told me that it's unforegettable for all the wrong reasons and spending $5K on that experience is just the icing on the cake. The reality is that the Ice Storm start their process way too late & they absolutely want to do it their way. Again, I was approached by them in late November to basically only get them names & contact info of all the kids. They basically only wanted a yes man or a schlepp to do the dirty work for them. When I asked them about getting a good coach in place (as I knew this was the only way that all the top talent would jump on board as Rick Rusk had already given one of Quebec's top players his release), I was immediately pushed away & asked "is this a show stopper" to which I replied "yes it is". Rick Rusk would not back down from this as he wanted the same coach as the previous year. The following day I told them to remove me from the process because I didn't believe that this would attract the very best top talent to the Montreal Ice Storm Brick. I later found out that he only recently confirmed the same coach as last year which only proved to me that Rick Rusk wants to do it his way and isn't open to as much as people thinks he is. At the end of the day, if the Montreal Ice Storm once again don't perform well at the Brick this year, the only person to blame will be Rick Rusk. I have even sent a personal email to Mr. Styles of the Brick that the way Rick Rusk runs the Montreal Brick team is the laughing stock of Quebec and I urged him to at a minimum give out another Brick license to Montreal/Quebec to give competition on the way things are done here in Quebec related to the Brick. This year the pressure is on for Rick Rusk. One thing to remember is that Mike Goyette & all the other parents are all in this with the best of intentions because they are the ones spending $5K. Mike was sold a dream and given the responsibility of managing this team so he is doing the best he can to be positive along with all the parent coaches involved. I wish them the best of luck in hopes that they change the Ice Storm Bricks historic past as I believe Quebec this year has by far the best talent pool in the 2004's.
-
It's not that I don't think Quebec has the best or most talented players.... it's just that they are not all playing for the Montreal Ice Storm. There are 2 of the very best players that would have played with the Montreal Ice Storm, but instead chose to play with the Toronto Bulldogs. Further, in my opinion, there are at least 5 or 6 players that were good enough to make this years Montreal Ice Storm Brick team but either got cut or simply chose not to play with them.
-
That goalie is a product of a great goalie coach named Marco Raimondo. Marco is the Stallions official goalie coach of the Stallions organization and has already produced a bunch of great 2004 Goalies including the MVP goalie of the Invitational Tournament 2 weekends ago who beat 2 Brick teams (Bulldogs & Boston). He is currently working with all our 2003-2006 goalies and has done an amazing job with them. Highly recommended trainer if you're a young goalie!
-
From my contacts the Vancouver team that was at that tournament had 5-7 Brick players. The Nebraska kid was NOT at this tournament as he plays with the Bulldogs, but from what I'm hearing he isn't head over heels above anyone in the 2004's based on the Invitational tournament that the Stallions won 2 weeks ago playing the Boston Jr Bruins Brick team in the finals. From that pool, here is my current rankings; 1- Jr Canucks 2- Toronto Bulldogs 3- Jr Bruins 4- Saskatchewan (based on last years results & knowing that they are big & strong) 5- Montreal Ice Storm 6- Minnesota (6 & 7 are interchangeable) 7- Winnipeg Jr Jets (6 & 7 are interchangeable) In the other pool, I would rank Toronto Pro-Hockey#1 & LA Jr Kings #2. This is just my opinion given the info I currently have.

Stallions 2004 Elite CHAMPIONS in Toronto's Invitational tournament
stallions2004 a répondu à un sujet de LUCIC dans 2004
The development comes from the Professional training programs we offer from September to April and which some kids continue through the spring & summer season. AAA Tournaments are there to put what you've learned to practice. In every game you play there is a winner & a loser, and AAA is all about competition. It's takes sacrifice for kids (and parents) to get to & do the training sessions but the hard work most of our kids put in pays off for those that commit. The question I would ask myself if I were you is -How much of a ''sacrifice'' did I and my son make this past year? If you look at the core of our team, we have 6 kids that have been there from year 1 & 4 kids that have been there from year 2. Those who have left our program has always been their choice. Some have left because of ego while others have left because of playing time. The kid leaving our team this week is his (or more his parents) choice. Gohabsgo2014, has your son by any chance made this years Brick Team? -

If you think you can win big tournaments playing only your 6 best players then you must not really know your hockey. Believe it or not, everyone played with the exception of the OT in the finals. Some got reduced shifts in the finals based on their performance, but it's simply because they had no legs and were simply not skating or winning their battles because they were exhausted. Some people might have a hard time accepting that, but that's the reality and if my son was hurting the team then I would expect the coaches to reduce his shifts as well. In the 2nd OT, the coaches went with who they felt were the best players and believe it or not those players were neither of the coaches or managers kids. Sometimes you simply need to accept REALITY because this is AAA Hockey and not Hockey de Ville. -

Still lots of huge hurdles to climb for this edition of the IS Brick team. Personally my opinion is that with the current formula and owner, this edition will have the same faith as in previous years. My hope is that they are least very competitive. Winning the Brick with this formula is extremely difficult.... but I hope everyone involved proves me wrong. -

Mike, I agree with you that winning should NOT be what judges your teams success at the Brick. However, if you guys are not even competitive and lose more then half of your games then I would judge this edition as a failure much like in previous years. Go there and be competitive and win those 2-1 or 3-2 games instead of losing them like in so many previous years. A competitive team with character wins those tight games when it counts!
