Mike, as you know I wasn't there but the feedback I got was that it was fast for sure, but there was hardly no passing and collective play. That will be the demise of this team like every year. Further to that, the coaching will be horrible as per usual. From previous years you should know that you build Championship teams from the back out and this team will be missing some very important pieces in the back and in the front as well. My prediction is that the usual will happen with this team in Edmonton. I myself will spend my $6000 on a beautiful family vacation down South instead of going up North! Good luck to those who decide to go.

These are all very good questions that get asked every year!!!
-
The suggestion I made was based on research I had done by asking several of the 2003's of their experience from last year. Almost everyone I had spoken to had mentioned that the coaching was one of the biggest issues. I heard everything from the coaches didn't know the kids to the coaches would never even address the parents throughout the tournament, not even to set up a team dinner or anything to try to build some sort of togetherness. Almost all the parents felt it was a very cold atmosphere. The suggestion I made was simply to bring in a coach that knows some of the kids or has had experience working with kids at that age level. Two names that I had in mind was Gaston Gingras (Stanley Cup winner with Montreal in 1986) or Denis Chalifoux (or both depending on cost). I also knew that a different coach would have absolutely attracted the 2 players that have gone with the Bulldogs. It's too bad they were not open to the idea at all.

Galchy27 it has nothing to do with control but more to do with doing things the right way. I was in fact asked to be part of the process but it was very evident that they wanted a so called ''yes man'' to basically do all their dirty work of getting the contact info of the best kids in the province. When I made just 1 very important suggestion as it was crutial in getting the best kids to be part of the process it was flat out refused on the spot & it was made clear to me that it was not an option. Once that happenned, I took myself immediately out of the process because I knew they would never get all the best players from Quebec together with the intention of winning the Brick tourney. If you compare to previous years of doing things, the IS Brick have NOT deviated at all this year and my prediction is that they will follow the same faith as in previous years (whether my son is on the team or not). My kid will have fun no matter what as long as he's playing hockey. However, I don't need to spend over $5K for my kid to have fun or have an "experience". I could easily spend that money on a beach vacation with my entire family and have fun or invest that kind of money in his hockey development over the next 2 years and get more out of it. At the end of the day it's a choice for every parent to make & I respect every parents decision they will make.
-
Here is the problem..... The IS Brick do their own thing and live in a bubble involving 1-2 people that have their own agenda's in mind. It is currently mid February and their team isn't close to being finalized and probably won't be finalized until end of March. If the IS Brick would have started their process in September and completed 90-95% of their team by Jan 1st, then having 1 team to represent the 2004's makes total sense. However the reality is that they haven't made their team yet & in the 2004's, if 4-8 players get chosen by end of March from 1 specific team (ie. Stallions or Goyette's Vikings), then they are basically being forced to fold their respective AAA teams and leaving their teammates out to dry without a team to play for.
-
For all players planning on playing for the IS Brick team. I have been informed that the new LEHQ will be passing a rule that will enforce that all players selected need to; 1) be affiliated to an LEHQ AAA team. 2) participate in a minimum of 3 of their affiliated AAA team's tournaments. 3) participate in all their affiliated AAA team's practices before June 1st. 4) can only participate in Brick team activities after June 1st. Failure to follow these rules will result in LEHQ sanctions the following year.

J'aimerais félicité le gagnant du tournois de Lévis Victoriaville et l'autre finaliste Pierrefonds. Quelle tournois incroyable et très compétitif.
-
Keep everything open like in Ontario. Let teams play where they want and with who they want. Let them also choose which tourneys they want to play. Competition will force everyone to become better.... from organizations to tournament organizers. That's how hockey players in Quebec will get better!

Heard it is now a done deal. 1 league in 2014 finally!

Fusion entre THAAAQ et LEAAAQ pour bientôt ???
stallions2004 a répondu à un sujet de HockeyDragons dans GÉNÉRAL HOCKEY ÉTÉ
My vision for AAA hockey was to have 1 league and 1 league only. From my sources I have heard a deal has been finally met to merge both leagues. Not quite sure what this league will look like but I think it's a good thing. -
I'll tell everyone straight out what the problem with hockey in Quebec; 1- Talent pool is too watered down at the Atom level. There should be an Atom AA with a maximum of 15 teams across the province to maximize competition. 2- Not enough practices that are of any quality. 3- Coaches that simply aren't qualified enough to teach kids proper skills or even have a proper yearly plan for their team. I know on our BB team practices are planned the day of and our coach has done zero skills development with the exception of 1 hour every 2 weeks that the parents pay extra for a professional trainer. Simple question, who coaches our elite coaches here in Quebec and mentors them? 4- Political BS in every association that favour certain players based on who they know rather than what their kid has earned. I know that the elite players in Quebec have one thing in common which is no secret.... They do extra quality training for which they pay extra for. I actually had my BB coach tell me at the beginning of the year that Gaston Gingras is terrible as a trainer and that he didn't want me to do his training! Two reasons why he said that... 1) he didn't want me to miss the BB practices or tire out my son & 2) jealousy due to the fact that my son was getting extra training that he couldn't provide for all his BB team surely or because my son doesn't play for his AAA Team that he runs in the spring.

From what I'm hearing, the Ice Rebels are once again the team to beat this year in the 2006's. They've been able to secure the top 2 players from TBT so they will be quite strong with 2 very dominant forwards and 1 very dominant defenseman. It will be interesting to see how all the 2006's have progressed throughout the year. On the Stallions side, the D1 team is 95% finalized and should be fairly strong with most of their players doing very well in Novice A. But of course Novice A is not AAA. I wish everyone a great rest of the Novice season.
-
J'ai entendu des rumeurs qu'ils (TBT) vont joue dans le LEAAAQ. Est ce que quelqu'un confirme la rumeur?

Top Ice, Lucic's son is eligible to do it again and lucky for him he is doing it all over again but with a different team because he wants no part of the IS Brick experience. Further, from my sources, even the other 2004 that made the 2003 IS Team last year wants absolutely nothing to do with the IS Brick experience. As much as I'm discouraged with the IS Brick group, I'm happy for Lucic & his son will have the experience they deserve.

Carey & Mike, I wasn't talking about systems, I was talking about philosophy. I don't think there were any systems put in place after 3 practices with a pick up team at that age.
-
I didn't say the coaches were not good. They were all individually very good, but they had issues putting their individual philosophies aside in order to work together and all preach one philosophy to the kids. When you have a pick up of great players the biggest issue is always been able to put egos aside both from the players perspective and also coaches. This is the same thing I'm sure when making Jr Team Canada. Some players that are normally scorers on their junior team need to learn to become a grinder or set up man.
-
The KOTR team had both anglo's and francophones on the team. Let's not try to turn this into a language debate because it isn't about that. That was a good team that had 3-4 players that probably didn't belong, but to me the biggest factor of why that team lost is because we didn't have a united coaching staff.
-
Yes ML was playing with our team because he is part of that team. We were also missing 2 D's, one that went to the Brick last year and one that will go to the Brick this year. I agree the team that we played against wasn't the best 2003 D1 team out there as they were going through tryouts and were missing a few very good players, but they also had help from one of the 2003 D1 players that is playing on the Super Dooper 2003 team surclassed to play in the 2002 D1 (MG). I don't want to put any circumstances to the game but I do know they are very strong but it's only natural that they will have a difficult time playing some of the top 2003 D1 teams. However, that is why they will be playing with the 2003 D1's to help their progression.
-
If you take 2 of our players away as they are already going with the Bulldogs, that would leave 15 players left. Of those 15, I can easily see 11 of them being selected. So a realistic % of players going to the Brick tourney from this team is 13/17 or 76%. However that's assuming they all accept the invitation of course. Not quite 90% however as I mentioned earlier. Let's wait and see on how the Brick selection committee evaluates everyone and I'll keep you posted on who got selected to the next round from this team.
-
On last years Brick team there was a total of 8 or 9 Stallions that made it which came up to about 55% of the team.
-
We will have to wait and see what kind of schedule they come out with then.

Top Ice, our Stallions 2004's are forming 3 teams again this year. The Stallions Team QC has already been made and will be playing in the 2003 Super category this spring. This team has added 4 of the top 2004 players from other teams (1 from IS, 1 from Gouv's, 1 from Metro CH, and 1 from 2003 D1). This team is extremely strong and have already beaten a 2003 D1 team 11-5 in an exhibition game missing 3 of their players. The core of this group have been together for over 3 yrs and this year will be coached by Gaston Gingras. The other 2 teams being formed, which are still in tryouts are to play in the 2004 Super & 2004 Regular category. I am not on the selection committee of the Brick and I agree with you that there is surely some talent out there other then from the Stallions. However, from my own evaluations and knowing most of the kids that were at the tryouts, I personally only saw maybe 4-5 kids that I felt were better than the kids on the Stallions 2004 Team QC on the small ice. That being said, the big ice is a complete different ball game.
-
Mr. Boutin, in the 2004's I believe 90% of the players will be coming from the Stallions 2004 Team QC that will be playing in the 2003 Super this spring. They are extremely strong and they also already have 2 of their players confirmed to play with the Bulldogs Brick team. Further, they will be coached by Gaston Gingras this spring as the parents of this team won't just bye into anything the Brick IS organizers will throw at them as they seem to know exactly what they want. This team is also already registered to the invitational in Toronto which the IS Brick team is not even invited too I believe. Time will tell what will happen I guess but my assumption is that parents will have to lower their expectations if they would like to win playing for IS Brick.

Si tu parle du #4 dans l'equipe Red, he is not trying out as a defenseman but more as a center : ) I personally wasn't overly impressed with any of the defense being played. In a 3 on 3 setting I was looking to see which defenseman would be able to hold on to the puck just enough to draw a player or two to them and then be able to feed a pass to an open teammate. Other things I was looking for was quick decisions with pressure on them. One of the problems in Quebec is that everyone teaches defenseman to dump the puck off the boards and out of harms way or the danger zone. There wasn't very many defenseman able to make a play with the puck and then move in up the ice quickly and accurately. Just my personal opinion & nothing personal to anyone.
