Questions to all as I don't have the exact answers. How many 2004's last year made it to Peewee AAA major last year? How many 2005's this year made it to Peewee AAA major?
 
My opinion of the 2005's is that it's not an excessively strong cuvée overall when you compare it to the 2003's & 2004's. Again my opinion is that the 2003's have lots or more high end talent compared to the 2004's but the 2004's are much deeper in talent. It's very difficult to compare cuvée to cuvée for sure but that's what I see.
 
One very important thing I've noticed in LSL region is that many of the 2005-2006-2007 simply have not bought into doing extra training which will eventually bite them I think. The 2008's have bought in a bit but not in huge numbers. There's always a few parents that think they can do it better themselves & think they are saving a few $$ but don't realize the damage or lack of development they are giving their kids.
 
Bottom line is if you do invest in extra training, continue it even once you get into the structure. People think that just because you are in the structure & spending $3-4K that you are getting everything you need. The reality is that you aren't & you should always be working on your individual skills & trying to improve on your skating.

It is now official that the LSL South team will be wearing & representing the Montreal Canadiens jerseys at this years prestigious Quebec City Peewee tournament. Congratulations to all the players & coaches for working hard & earning the honor. Hopefully there will be another Habs vs Nordiques game like last year! : )

Here's my opinion based on experience of the top private trainers I would pay for & what they do best in no particular order;
 
Marco Raimondo (goalie trainer)
-simply the best for intensity, work ethic, mental toughness, technique.
 
Raz & Karel Svoboda
-skills, battle drills, small details, mental toughness, body contact, team concepts, PP, shooting, positioning, etc.
-best trainer for elite hockey players outside the NHL.
-still trains NHL players in their off season.
 
Marcin Snita
-Stickhandling, edging, power skating, body contact, battle drills, flow drills, etc.
-still trains NHL players in their off season.
 
Gaston Gingras
-Passing, hockey sense, power skating.
 
Giovanni Iasenza
-Defense, passing, hockey sense, flow drills, hockey development, teaching of the small details of the game.
 
Anna Sherbatov
-power skating (novice elite to pro)
 
Palladini
-power skating fundamentals (mahg to Novice A)
 
Turcotte
-stick handling fundamentals (mahg to Atome)

I didn't say the players that get invited to this All-Star don't belong or don't deserve to be there. It's just that in some cases there are mistakes that happen (either voluntary or not due to politics, etc) and we forget that they are still kids of 9-10 years old at the Atome BB level. Believe it or not, the kids know when things are not done fairly. That's why I think you simply get rid of this silly game that really means nothing in the end.

I don't think I can disagree too much with this prediction but I will add that the top 4 will fight very hard & it will be tight until the end in my opinion. Although Laval-Nord will be strong at the beginning of the season, we all know that what really counts is how each team progresses throughout the season as the gap closes really quick by January & goals become a lot harder to score. Bonne saison a tous!

Without any disrespect to you or any of the defensemen in the tourney, the most complete defenseman in the tourney was #44 of Pro-Hockey. My own son being one of the top defenseman in the 2004's and having played along side #76 witnessing him score 3 huge gosls to win us games and also playing against Pro-Hockey this spring with the Bulldogs, I would have to without a doubt that #44 is the top defenseman in my eyes followed by #76. Again taking nothing away from anyone, I see it as I see it.

What a game.... Bulldogs comeback to beat the Ice Storm 4-3 in 2OT. The Bulldogs tied the game with about a minute left on the power play. The IS played a very good collective game and almost pulled it off. Hats off to both teams, best of luck with rest of the games in the tourney. I'm not sure if it's the top 3 or top 4 that advance but I think both teams have a very good chance of advancing to the next round. Bulldogs I believe are already in if it's top 3 but the IS must win at least one more I believe if it's top 3.

Remember it's very tough playing your 2nd game of the day vs a fresh team.... especially vs a fresh Brick team where there are never any easy games. I thought the Bulldogs showed lots of character in the OT comeback win. Not easy, but Boston has also proven they can beat anyone.

Je sais que le Match a fini pratiquement a minuit heure de Montreal mais Minessota ils était 23h00 pour eux, je suis confiant avec ce team j ai vu un def et un attaquant pour qui ce n était pas facile mais personne qui avait pas d affaire la

 
Karol, absolument une belle finale chaudement dispute et felicitation au Nordiques 2004 pour leur belle victoire en finale. La vitesse de votre equipe nous on surpris et on aurait du mieux preparer mais comme qu'on dit, ca joue sur la glace et vous aviez meriter la victoire et le Championat aucun doute.
 
Juste pour vous dire que cette groupe des Stallions 2004 etait bien un mix des Stallions Gold D1 et donc 4 joueurs des Stallions Elite (2 avants, un defenseur, et le gardien) alors le calibre de la finale etait tres eleve a mon avis. Cette equipe des Stallions sera en effet (plus ou moin 3-5 joueurs) l'equipe d'Atome BB a Laval-Nord cette annee et je crois qu'on devrait etre tres competitif. Bonne fin de saison AAA a tous et bon repos avant de commencer le hockey de Ville : )

In Quebec everyone makes such a huge deal about centers playing the wing and making excuses about why an assembled team of supposed to be All-Stars lose is because they all played center on their own team and now they play wing. Personally you've got to be kidding me.....
 
The only time where centers & wingers play their position is on a face-off & on breakouts/defensive zone coverage in the defensive zone. In the offensive zone at this age it should be F1, F2, F3 and forwards need to read and react to the situation and once the puck is going the other way they ALL need to backcheck. I understand the concept of comfortability of playing a certain position but an elite player should be able to play all forward positions in the offensive zone & understand spacing/triangle concepts as well as knowing when to double team (doublage) etc.
 
I myself love the fact that my son can play all 5 positions on the ice..... not all of them great or at the best of his abilities, but he isn't a deer in head lights when he plays a new position.

I agree 100%..... I think many people feel that every tournament should be an open tournament just like in Toronto. The AAA season changes week to week so it would be nice to allow kids to play with & with whom they want and also to adjust their teams accordingly from week to week. I believe that if we opened up the tourneys that you might also have less teams playing up a category to find competition. Further, it would also be extremely easy to manage and the only thing that would maybe need to be managed are the older kids playing in a lower category. Just my 2 cents....

I'd like to congratulate the Stallions 2004 Elite for showing how strong the 2004 crop in Quebec are and making it to the finals of the CCM Boisbriand 2003D1. 
 
Their performance this past weekend was mind blowing considering they were playing with 3 missing players & one injured defenseman all weekend. Going into this tourney the expectations were not very high and winning one game would have been a feat in itself. After a tie in their first game, they finished the round robin with 3 consecutive wins and finishing first overall. In the semi-finals they won in double OT before finally running out of gas & losing 6-1 in the finals vs the Cascades who had 3 kids from last years Brick team on it. Despite the 6-1 lost, the Stallions Elite showed once again how dominant their 2004's really are. Once again, congratulation boyz you turned a lot of heads this past weekend vs some very good competition beating the Prince, Maxpuissance, & Gaulois Jr twice. 

Congratulations to the Stallions/Titan 2004 D2 for winning the Laval Challenge tournament this past weekend defeating a very good Ice Storm team 4-0 in the finals. This team has come a long way since last year and it just shows that the Stallions development program continues to develop great talent. Once again congratulations to all the players, coaches, & parents!!!

Cette equipe on progresser enormement depuis l'ans passe grasse a notre programme de development Stallions qui continue de developpe d'excellent tallent. Mike, I totally respect that you guys won the Laval 2003 D2 tourney last year but it's only because you didn't have to play us at all during the tourney ; )

It's a scam because it's run extremely poorly here in Quebec. I've been getting calls at about a rate of 2 a day asking why my son wasn't at the tryouts and why he doesn't want to play for the IS Brick from parents of kids that were officially confirmed by the IS Brick. They all want to go because it's the highest level of competition at this age group, but the true elites only want to go if all the very best players are also going. Knowing the 2004's like I do, I can confirm to everyone that NOT all the very best 2004's were present at the tryouts on March 3rd. In fact there were missing at least 5-6 of the elite players that should make this team if it were run & coached properly.
 
My advice to everyone is to hold out and say they are not going unless there are changes starting from getting rid of the owner himself. In the past everyone has always caved and given in & the owner has won. I'd like to think the 2004's are much smarter & courageous than previous years and they will all stick together and sanction those that do decide to go under the current owner so that the current owner will give up control of the Brick license to the new owners of the league. Without players, the current owner is powerless!!!

Gally11, get used to the coach not being there.... because even when he's there he isn't really there. For those that want to be educated before they go ahead and spend $6000, last year the coaches along with the owner & organizer were NEVER around. It was an extremely cold atmosphere and NOTHING was organized. The coaches NEVER addressed the parents in Edmonton and always left through the back door. The only time you saw the owner was when he was behind the bench or eating his doughnuts & licking his fingers. Even when one of the parents organized a team dinner to celebrate one of the players birthdays, not one of the coaches or owner showed up. Pretty sad given that everyone is paying for the owner, the head coach, & his son to be there.
 
The facts are that the experience they are trying to sell you is not that pleasant of an experience going with the IS. The owner is the biggest problem here. He has driven one of the best players away from this years team & along with him one of the other very best players from the Ottawa region. My son is currently being held hostage as well as he himself does not want to play for this owner and the owner does not want to give us our release. It's quite sad but our family will instead find a way to cure that sadness with a beautiful beach vacation down south.
 
My suggestion is that the owner of the IS Brick step down and hand over the Brick license to the owner of the new league so that they can run it properly for future generations.
